Ezekiel Elliott Makes First Official Comments on Cowboys Return
The Dallas Cowboys have been talked about this offseason for their lack of moves. With a major 2024 season on the way, the Cowboys decided to make small acquisitions and focused on the NFL Draft instead.
There was a massive void at running back after Tony Pollard skipped town in free agency. The Cowboys were determined to bring back Ezekiel Elliott to Dallas and did so on a one-year deal.
He has a lot of familiarity with the team and he just made his first official comments since rejoining the club.
Cowboys News: Ezekiel Elliott Made His First Public Comments Since Heading Back to Dallas
In his first official statements since coming back to Dallas, Elliott expressed his excitement returning to the Lone Star State.
He said, "It feels great to be home. I definitely missed being here. I missed this building. I missed Cowboys' nation. I'm definitely excited and ready to get this thing going."
Elliott still believes he's a starting-caliber player in this league and has some juice left.
The 28-year-old added, "Just showing I can be a starter in this league," he said of his time in New England. "I can still play at a high level. I'm [going to] continue that here. … I've always prided myself on being an all-around back, back there. Not just running with the ball but [also] protecting the quarterback and catching the ball out of the backfield."
Elliott was in Dallas for seven years before bolting to New England in 2023. In Foxborough, he finished with 642 rushing yards, 313 receiving yards, and five total scores as the No. 2 tailback.
Now in Dallas, the former Ohio State product will be tasked with being the lead workhorse. During his seven-year career with the Cowboys, he totaled 8,262 rushing yards, 2,336 receiving yards, and 80 total touchdowns.
