After taking down the Houston Astros in the ALCS, the Texas Rangers are going to the World Series for the first time in over a decade. They're set to host Game 1 of the Fall Classic on Friday night against the Arizona Diamondbacks, who advanced after knocking out the Philadelphia Phillies in the NLCS.

Many baseball fans outside of Texas might not be too familiar with the Rangers and their history. Thankfully, we're here to help.

Have the Rangers Won a World Series?

Despite playing in several World Series, Texas has never won one in its franchise history, which dates back to 1972.

The Rangers are one of six MLB teams that's never won it all, along with the Seattle Mariners, San Diego Padres, Tampa Bay Rays, Milwaukee Brewers and Colorado Rockies.

While Texas' championship drought spans over 50 years, it is not the longest in baseball. That dubious honor belongs to the Cleveland Guardians, who have not raised the flag since 1948.

This is the third World Series appearance for the Rangers. They reached the Fall Classic for the first time in 2010, losing to current manager Bruce Bochy's San Francisco Giants in five games.

Texas returned to the World Series in 2011 but narrowly lost to the St. Louis Cardinals in seven games. The Rangers nearly closed out the series in Game 6 and were one strike away from victory multiple times but were unable to finish the job, ultimately losing Game 6 as well as Game 7.

That could finally change this year, however, as Texas is currently the betting favorite to win the World Series at multiple sportsbooks, including BetMGM with -175 odds.

The stars seem to be aligned for the Rangers this year. Not only are they the better team with six more wins and a far superior run differential, but they also have home-field advantage and an extra day of rest compared to the Diamondbacks.

Texas fans have been waiting a long time to see their team win a title, but this could finally be the year.
