It's been a shaky two-week stretch for the Dallas Cowboys. After beating the Cleveland Browns in Week 1, they've dropped two straight games, with both losses coming at home.

In the NFL, you need to quickly turn the page and focus on your next matchup. On Thursday Night Football, the Cowboys go on the road to play the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium as they look to regain some momentum.

One problem area for the Cowboys is their rushing attack and owner Jerry Jones gave some bad news to Dalvin Cook.

Cowboys News: Dalvin Cook Won’t Play on Thursday Night

Jones was a guest on 105.3 The Fan, and he revealed that Cook likely won't suit up against the New York Giants.

So that means Dallas will roll with the trio of Ezekiel Elliott, Rico Dowdle, and Deuce Vaughn. Through three games though, this group hasn't been effective. They are 30th in the NFL in rushing offense (73.7).

Dallas has failed to establish a balanced offensive attack and that has put more pressure on Dak Prescott.

In late August, the Cowboys added Cook to the practice squad. It was believed that the Florida State product would eventually get elevated to the 53-man roster but it has yet to happen. It does make you think, if not now, then when?

With the run game struggling to get going, this would appear to be a great time to see if Cook has anything left in the tank.

Last season, he failed to make an impact with the New York Jets and Baltimore Ravens. The 29-year-old has 67 carries for 214 yards and zero touchdowns.

It didn't look good for him then and it doesn't appear to be getting better now.
