This is going to be a long week for the Dallas Cowboys . In Week 2, they were embarrassed by the New Orleans Saints, losing 44-19.

In that matchup, the Cowboys' defense couldn't stop a nosebleed, but they also didn't establish the ground game much, finishing with 68 yards in the loss to the Saints.

That led to some questions surrounding Dalvin Cook but owner Jerry Jones shot down that notion leading into Week 3.

Cowboys News: Jerry Jones Likes Dallas’ Running Back Rotation

Jones was a guest on "105.3 The Fan", where he highlighted that he likes Dallas' current running backs and doesn't see Cook getting called up and being incorporated this week.

Jones said, "I don’t necessarily see a change that would involve Cook this week."

The 81-year-old added that he likes Dallas' backs and doesn't a change coming yet.

"I like what we are with our running backs. We got good depth. We just didn’t get to run them enough Sunday."

That clearly doesn't bode well for the Florida State product. In late August, Dallas added Cook to the practice squad but hasn't been elevated to the 53-man roster. That's because the Cowboys have Ezekiel Elliott, Rico Dowdle, and Deuce Vaughn on the active roster.

It doesn't leave much wiggle room for Cook, who looked like the shell of himself in 2023 with the New York Jets and the Baltimore Ravens. He finished with career-lows in carries (67), rushing yards (214), and had zero touchdowns.

Now it looks like there isn't a pathway for him to get on the roster. After two weeks, Elliott and Dowdle are tied for first on the team in rushing yards (56) but look for them to establish the ground game more against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 3.

That will be a tough matchup for Dallas with the Ravens being 0-2, who will come out aggressive. Despite being at home, the Cowboys are 1.5-point underdogs, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
