The Dallas Cowboys are on the road in Week 9 for a huge matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles, who currently have the best record in the NFL at 7-1. The Cowboys have been put together some strong performances with a couple of tough losses sprinkled in. Even as dominant as we've seen the Cowboys at times this season, going into Philadelphia and getting a win is going to be a tough ask.

Typically, on a week-to-week basis, we're seeing a bit of a pattern of which players are going to be inactives for Dallas. NFL rules allow teams to dress 48 players now for the game, and your active roster can be up to 55 players depending on whether or not you're calling up help from the practice squad.

That means, at a minimum, you're looking at five inactive players each week and typically no more than seven. Which players are the most likely inactives for the Cowboys in Week 9? Let's look at the top five.

Predicting Cowboys Inactive Week 9

1. Trey Lance, QB

The safe bet with Trey Lance is that Dallas continues to roll with the strategy we have been seeing. Lance is allowed to dress for the game as the "emergency" third quarterback, but he wouldn't be eligible to step on the field at all unless Dak Prescott and Cooper Rush were both injured and unable to play. The Cowboys would have to decide to make Lance one of their normal, active players if they planned on using a package of plays to get him involved.

Therefore, I think it's most likely we see Lance added as an "inactive" but in actuality, he will dress and be available to play in the game under certain circumstances.
