Luka Doncic Beefs With Reporter in Postgame Press Conference
It was a rough night for Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday. The Phoenix Suns outlasted the Mavericks 132-109, handing them their third straight loss. The Mavericks were up by 16 points in the second quarter before squandering the lead.
Things hit a tipping point for Doncic late in the third quarter. According to ESPN's Tim MacMahon, a heckling fan yelled at Doncic, "Luka, you’re tired! Get your [expletive] on the treadmill!”
It didn't make things better that the fan was rocking a Devin Booker jersey. As Doncic walked back down the court, he alerted security guards, and the fan was escorted out shortly after.
Things ended up carrying over to the postgame press conference when Doncic seemed to be annoyed with MacMahon. The four-time All-Star felt like he was being picked on by MacMahon and let him know.
The two had a brief back-and-forth regarding the situation and Doncic said, "You'll be the first one to always put something bad about me."
He was referring to the tweet that MacMahon posted regarding the ejection.
MacMahon defended himself saying, "First of all, 99% of the things that I've heard about you have been good. Second of all, the guy was sitting two rows behind us."
The two continued to discuss what had transpired and Doncic stated why he wanted the fan ejected.
"He was cursing [at] me the whole first half too," Doncic said. "I never would eject a fan. They pay for tickets, but I had enough."
This incident was just another part of an unpleasant night for Doncic and the Mavericks.
