The Mavericks look like they may be actual Finals contenders with one of the better records in the NBA, so it's logical to consider potential improvements that could give the roster a stronger chance of competing in the playoffs.

Dallas has a promising young center in Derek Lively, but another intriguing big is reportedly available from the Detroit Pistons.

Could Isaiah Stewart be the missing piece the Mavericks need?

Mavericks Rumors: Dallas Should Trade for Pistons' Isaiah Stewart

Stewart is reportedly available as the Pistons endure a miserable season. He averages 7.7 rebounds and a block per game for his career, displaying an impressive physicality and athleticism.

He's had an issue with ejections in his career, but he's a quality enforcer and could provide a boost in the playoffs.

And when you've got teams sometimes trying to tee off on Luka on Kyrie, it can help to have someone with a bit of a mean streak keeping opponents hoenst.

Lively and Stewart would create a formidable young duo down low, with the defensive chops and versatility to help Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving's offensive prowess.

Given the Pistons' poor season, it likely wouldn't require a lot to get Stewart in a trade. A second-round pick would be more than worth the investment. Stewart was a first-round pick in 2020 out of Washington, and this is the kind of low-cost move that helps build a playoff rotation.

We'll see if the Mavericks are active in the trade market, but this is certainly a move the front office should consider.
