Micah Parsons' future is a big topic of conversation in Dallas. While CeeDee Lamb and Dak Prescott's contracts are clearly the priority, Parsons' deal expires in 2026 and he's another superstar the Cowboys will need to throw a ton of money at if they want to keep him.

Parsons' contract negotiations or desires haven't been especially public yet, but he did fire off a message on social media about taking a break from football within the next few years.

Cowboys News: Micah Parsons Says He Will Step Away From NFL in 2027

After two eventful weeks in France, the summer Olympics is done and people already have their sights set on the 2028 Olympics that will take place in Los Angeles.

Parsons went on X and stated, "After 2027 ima take a break from football to prepare for the Olympics !"

He sounds like he's just having some fun, of course, but things will be different in 2028. The Summer Olympics will be held in Los Angeles, and flag football for men and women will be a part of the summer games. Football being included in this global event is huge and the fact that it will happen for the first time in the states is massive news.

The list of players who will make the team will be exciting to see and Parsons is already thrilled about the possibility of representing his country.

Parsons is one of the best speed rushers in the league. The Penn State product can explode off the line, but a linebacker's skillset may not be perfectly suited to a non-contact version of football.

He also mentioned "stepping away from football," so maybe Parsons thinks he's going to be a contender in shotput or something else that leverages his strengths.

Across his first three seasons, the 25-year-old has finished with 40.5 sacks and seven forced fumbles.

Even though the star defender is likely joking about stepping away from the game, this is something to look forward to down the line.
