It's been an eventful offseason for the Dallas Cowboys but not for the right reasons. They have seen starters like Tyron Smith and Tony Pollard leave town. Dan Quinn is now the head coach of the Washington Commanders.

They also have contract extensions looming for CeeDee Lamb, Micah Parsons, and Dak Prescott.

Not only is Prescott heading into the final year of his deal but so is head coach Mike McCarthy.

Heading into 2024, McCarthy decided to switch agents.

Cowboys News: Mike McCarthy Will Have A New Agent in 2024

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, McCarthy decided to hire Don Yee as his agent. Yee represents some of the top names in football like Jim Harbaugh, Sean Payton, and Tom Brady.

This is an interesting choice for McCarthy as he's clearly banking on himself if he thinks he needs an agent used to working with A-list talent.

As the head coach of the Cowboys, McCarthy has a 42-25 record, including three straight 12-win seasons but that doesn't mean much. The Cowboys haven't made it to the NFC Championship Game since 1995. Just last year Dallas had a sorry postseason exit. The No. 2 seed Cowboys let the No. 7 seed Green Bay Packers come into Jerry's world and beat them 48-32.

The pressure is certainly mounting for McCarthy and the Cowboys to produce in 2024. That's why he changed agencies, but the 60-year-old coach may be feeling a little too high on himself.

In comparison to Harbaugh and Payton, McCarthy isn't a hot commodity.

This past January, Harbaugh inked a five-year deal, making roughly $16 million a year with the Los Angeles Chargers. Meanwhile, Payton signed a five-year contract, making about $18 million a year in 2023. Those are some hefty salaries but those coaches are known for being alphas and culture changers.

That isn't McCarthy's lane, but he surely has faith in his own abilities. It'll be interesting to see how things will unfold.
