The Dallas Cowboys haven't had the best offseason in adding talent to improve the team. They saw a lot of players and coaches leave town.

Tony Pollard, Tyron Smith, Dorance Armstrong, and Dan Quinn all left the team this offseason. The Cowboys then named Mike Zimmer as the defensive coordinator to lead this talented defense and he's already off to a superb start in training camp.

Cowboys News: Jalen Brooks Highlights Changes He Sees in the Defense

When speaking with reporters after Monday's practice, wide receiver Jalen Brooks said that Zimmer has added new wrinkles to the defense, which will confuse opposing offenses this season.

"Their disguise now is insane. It’s insane. (Dan Quinn) had some disguises, but (Mike Zimmer’s) are pretty good. I gotta give him full credit for that. It’s really good."

Brooks added that Micah Parsons has been moving around from defensive end to linebacker on certain plays.

Although training camp has only been underway for a few weeks, this is a great step for a team that needs to succeed next season.

Under Quinn, the Cowboys were constantly taking away the ball, logging 93 takeaways since 2021, but there were times when they were dominated. And in Quinn's last game as the defensive coordinator, Dallas allowed 415 total yards of offense and 41 points to the Packers.

The Cowboys now have Zimmer running the ship, who is known for being a bit tough and rigid. Regardless, he's bringing some new juice to an already talented defense. Switching things up will go a long way for Dallas during the 2024 campaign.
