The Dallas Cowboys are taking their break before the 2024 season begins. Training camp is slated to start on July 25 in Oxnard, California.

The Cowboys never fail to shy away from the attention of the national media but that comes with the territory of being America's Team. The expectation in Dallas is Super Bowl or bust so anything short of that will be not good enough.

If that is a reasonable goal is a question for another day but the Cowboys have immense pressure on them in 2024. The running back group has undergone a shakeup with Tony Pollard leaving in free agency and Ezekiel Elliott coming back to the town.

Despite Zeke looking like a lead tailback in the backfield, another option has become available on the free-agent market.

NFL News: Leonard Fournette Looks to Continue NFL Career

According to NFL insider Adam Schefter, free-agent running back Leonard Fournette is looking to sign with a team before the regular season. His agent Ari Nissim said, "Leonard’s in the best shape of his career, and I expect he will have a new home soon."

At this stage of his career, Fournette is not the No. 1 option in the backfield but could be a contributor in a committee.

Fournette is a power runner who can wear out defenses as the game goes on. If the Cowboys wanted to bring him in, they would have two bruising running backs in Fournette and Zeke. It also wouldn't cost much either.

The LSU product has developed the nickname 'Playoff Lenny' due to his stellar play in the postseason. In nine playoff games, the 29-year-old has 152 carries for 604 yards and 10 total touchdowns. He also logged 35 catches for 254 yards.

The Cowboys could look into the veteran tailback if they want to add another body to the backfield.
