Eagles, Pick No. 22: Nate Wiggins, CB, Clemson

With James Bradberry struggling mightily throughout the 2023 season, it seems easy to predict where the Philadelphia Eagles will focus in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Their entire secondary was a problem and they’re trying to get things corrected. They released Kevin Byard — who was added via an in-season trade with the Tennessee Titans — and signed C.J. Gardner-Johnson. It’s the second stint in Philly for CJG, who was excellent for them in 2022.

They hope he will help them improve and are also banking on Vic Fangio to come up with a better scheme than what we saw from Sean Desai. He can’t do it alone which is why they’re going to kick the tires on every cornerback. This prediction has them doing this and landing on Nate Wiggins from Clemson.

Wiggins stands 6-foot-1 but weighed in at 173 pounds which will lead to concerns. He has the frame to add more muscle which will be key to long term success but his coverage skills and ideal length might be too good for the Eagles to ignore.

Philly can also take their time with him due to the presence of Bradberry and Darius Slay. He can learn from the veterans and eventually take over as CB1 down the road.
