It would be a win-win for both sides, too.

The Texas Rangers just won the World Series, so now they get to take the winter off to celebrate, right?

Wrong! While the Rangers were obviously a very good team in 2023, they were far from perfect. They were a Wild Card team, after all, so there's plenty of room for improvement.

Free agency is usually a great way to address major needs, but Texas may want to pull back on that front after spending a ton of money the past two offseasons. Instead, the front office may be more inclined to fill holes on the roster via trade.

Rangers Trade Rumors

One proposed trade from Joel Reuter at Bleacher Report has the Rangers trading for something that every team could use -- a quality relief pitcher.

In Reuter's proposed trade, Texas would send first baseman/outfielder Dustin Harris and pitcher Marc Church to the Colorado Rockies in exchange for Justin Lawrence.

Rockies-Rangers Trade

This is a relatively small trade in the scheme of things, but it's still one that could help the Rangers in 2024.

For starters, Texas is going to lose a lot of bullpen depth this winter. Will Smith, Aroldis Chapman, Chris Stratton and Martin Perez are all set to become free agents, and the Rangers obviously can't keep all of them.

In that case, Texas is going to need to find some relievers this offseason, which is why trading for Lawrence would make a lot of sense. Lawrence has steadily improved throughout his three MLB seasons, finishing 2023 with a solid 3.72 ERA and 78 strikeouts in 75 innings. He was absolutely dominant away from Coors Field, too, posting a 1.62 ERA and a 0.99 WHIP.

The 28-year-old righty has the potential to be an elite reliever outside of Colorado and shouldn't cost too much to acquire. Harris is a decent hitting prospect who has yet to make his MLB debut, while Church is a pitching prospect who is still trying to figure out his command.

Even better, Lawrence isn't even arbitration-eligible until 2025, Not only is he cheap, but he also has multiple years of team control remaining.

This trade would be a win-win for both sides, as the Rangers would get a much-needed bullpen arm while the Rockies would get a pair of prospects with some upside.
