The Rangers have been busy ahead of Tuesday's MLB Trade Deadline. Texas shored up its rotation in a big way this past weekend, trading for not one but two starters in Max Scherzer and Jordan Montgomery.

Following these huge spalshes, fans are buzzing with anticipation to see them in action. Well, the Ranger faithful is in luck, as Scherzer's debut date is right around the corner.

When Will Max Scherzer Debut?

Texas released its list of probables for the upcoming series against the White Sox on Monday. The most notable day is Thursday, of course, with Scherzer penciled in for the start and Chicago countering with Touki Toussaint.

The Scherzer acquisition has the potential to make the Rangers' championship dreams a reality. Yes, he's in the middle of a down year, but the Mets have been an all-out disaster in 2023. That kind of losing environment would be difficult for any talented pitcher to succeed in.

As an eight-time All-Star and three-time Cy Young winner, Scherzer's credentials are undeniable. He also has championship pedigree after leading the Nationals' rotation to a World Series win in 2019. Scherzer's wealth of playoff experience, which includes 27 postseason appearances 133.1 innings thrown over his career , holds unspeakable value, especially to a club that hasn't made the playoffs since 2016.

With Scherzner now joining Nathan Eovaldi in the rotation, Texas has two aces with World Series history to lean on down the stretch and into the playoffs. It's no surprise, then, that the Rangers boast some of the best odds to win the championship at the moment.

Of course, there's a long way until October. For now, Texas will hope Scherzer begins his tenure with the team on a high note. He'll take the mound on Thursday, Aug. 3 against the White Sox at 2:05 p.m. ET. Those looking to watch the game nationally can also catch it on ESPN+.
