The rapid approach of fall means playoff baseball is right around the corner. Following their incredible start to 2023 season, the Rangers are primed to return to the playoffs for the first time since 2016.

Texas' turnaround this year has fans undoubtedly excited for the looming postseason. MLB recently added to that hype by releasing the schedule for the 2023 playoffs.

It all kicks off with the Wild Card Round, which take place from Oct. 3-5 for both the AL and NL. The ALDS then follows from Oct. 7-13, which unfortunately gives American League teams one less day to recover than National League clubs, who are playing from Oct. 7-14.

As of writing on Thursday, Aug. 10, the Rangers currenly would be slated for the No. 2 seed in the AL despite having the third-best record behind the Orioles and Rays. That's because the 2-seed is given to the club with the best mark among division winners; since Tampa Bay would lose the AL East to Baltimore right now, Texas leapfrogs them for No. 2.

The top two seeds in each conference will earn byes to the Division Series, so it's possible the Rangers get some well-deserved rest before the ALDS. That could come in handy with the shortened dates for the AL, allowing Texas' rotation to come into the series as fresh as possible if they avoid the Wild Card Round.

Meanwhile, the ALCS is slated for Oct. 15-23, and the World Series takes place from Oct. 27-Nov. 4. ALDS and and ALCS coverage will be split between FOX and FS1, while ESPN handles the Wild Card, and FOX airs the World Series.

Texas' play during the 2023 campaign has shown this team has all the makings of a championship contender. The Rangers went all-in at the trade deadline as well to bolster this club down the stretch, adding both Max Scherzer and Jordan Montgomery to improve their rotation, which is an essential part of any World Series winner.

It's no surprise to see the Rangers as one of the favorites to win this year's title. They're in the top five for World Series odds across major books, as oddmakers love this electric offense combined with a stellar pitching corps.
