Recently Cut Cowboy Immediately Reunites With Dan Quinn in Washington
As the final preseason game approaches, the Dallas Cowboys are busy determining which players will and won't survive next week's roster cutdown day. Some teams have already gotten ahead of the deadline by waiving or trading players recently, and Dallas is no exception, as the Cowboys opted to release safety Sheldrick Redwine on Tuesday.
Despite this ending his time in Big D, it turns out Redwine isn't going very far.
On Thursday, after trading for kicker Cade York, the Washington Commanders announced they had also waived fellow K Riley Patterson and signed Redwine.
Obviously a former Cowboy going to a division rival is notable, but the fact ex-Dallas defensive coordinator Dan Quinn is also Washington's head coach only adds to the situation.
Quinn's shown no hesitation to take Cowboy coaches or players with him to the nation's capital. He tabbed former Dallas passing game coordinator Joe Witt Jr. to become the Commanders' new defensive coordinator, while signing Cowboys free agents like Tyler Biadasz, Dorance Armstrong, Dante Fowler and Noah Igbinoghene before Redwine.
It remains to be seen if assembling a Dallas-lite in Washington ultimately helps Quinn in his first year. Unfortunately for Mike McCarthy and co., they won't get a chance to exact some revenge on the former Cowboys coordinator until Week 12, when these two teams meet for the first time on Thanksgiving Day.
Their rematch just so happens to be the regular-season finale in Week 18 as well, which could mean plenty of fireworks as these rivals battle it out with playoff seeding likely on the line.
