Contract drama is at the forefront of Dallas Cowboys training camp as the organization figures out how to retain Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb and Micah Parsons, Lamb's asking price has been made clear, as the former Oklahoma standout wants to be one of the highest-paid at his position following a monstrous 2023 campaign that showcased his truly elite talents.

While Dallas seems to be hesitating a little to meet the wideout's demands, it appears he may just get his wish, according to the latest rumor.

Twitter/X personality Pretty Rickey, who's become known for his underground reporting and scoops ahead of national news-breakers, said Monday evening that Lamb and the Cowboys are "closing in" on a four-year extension worth between $136-$138 million. That would be an average annual value (AAV) of either $34 or $34.5 million, putting him second among WRs -- behind only Minnesota Vikings star Justin Jefferson ($35 million AAV).

Now, it's always worth taking these early rumors with a huge grain of salt. Sure, there's a chance someone is ahead of the game on this news, but with how drastically contract negotiations can change from one day to the next, it's far from a guarantee this reporting comes to fruition.

One Cowboys beat writer has already pushed back on this potential leak, with a source telling Clarence Hill Jr. of the Forth Worth Star-Telegram "NO" when asked about Rickey's post. Yet, Hill did appear to hedge by saying the two sides are talking soon after.

At the very least, this is a situation to watch in the coming days. Now that pads are coming on in practices, the Cowboys' preparations for the 2024 season are ramping up, and Lamb isn't anywhere to be found. The star pass-catcher repeating his All-Pro efforts will be critical to Dallas' offense being even somewhat competitive, so getting him back in the building is paramount.

That could set the stage for a deal, possibly at these numbers, to be agreed upon soon.
