Free agency is set to begin on Mar. 11 at 12 p.m. ET when the legal tampering period opens. Running back Tony Pollard is one of the Cowboys' free agents who is going to hit the open market. Dallas decided to not use the franchise tag on Pollard for the second straight year and he is free to speak to the 31 other teams in the league.

Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, and Micah Parsons are all eligible for contract extensions this offseason so that could be a reason why the Cowboys decided to let Pollard hit free agency.

Pollard has been with the Cowboys since being selected in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft. Across five NFL seasons, the 26-year-old recorded 3,621 rushing yards, 1,318 receiving yards, and 28 total touchdowns.

Those are solid numbers and rumors have leaked surrounding Pollard's preference heading into free agency.

Cowboys Rumors: Pollard Hopes to Return to Dallas in 2024

Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News reports that Pollard is willing to take less money from the Cowboys to return.

Watkins added that Pollard is open to heading back to Dallas even if another team offers him more on the open market.

This shouldn't come as a surprise to Cowboy fans, as Pollard alluded to this during Super Bowl Week. In an interview with "Blogging the Boys", the Memphis product said he would prefer to stay in Dallas "if I could choose".

NBC's Matthew Berry even heard more rumblings at the NFL Scouting Combine regarding Pollard and the Cowboys. Berry said, "Don’t be surprised if they [Dallas] bring Pollard back.”

Pollard loves the Cowboys organization and would love to continue his career with America's Team. Even if it means taking less money.
