If the Dallas Cowboys want to end their Super Bowl drought, they have several needs that must be addressed at the 2024 NFL Draft. One of the biggest holes on the roster is the starting left tackle spot after long-time starter Tyron Smith departed in free agency this offseason.

The good news for America's Team is that this year's first round is littered with starting-caliber offensive lineman prospects. There will be plenty of options to help protect Dak Prescott when the Cowboys are on the board at No. 24, including one local prospect who's been linked to the franchise.

Cowboys Draft Rumors: Tyler Guyton Linked to Dallas

According to ESPN's Dan Graziano, Oklahoma offensive tackle Tyler Guyton is "the name I have heard connected most closely" with the Cowboys. The 21-year-old brick wall was born and attended high school in Manor, TX — three hours away from Dallas — and even began his collegiate career at TCU.

Guyton has all the tools to become a starting tackle at the NFL level for years to come. For starters, he's a mountain of a man, standing at 6-foot-8 while weighing 322 pounds. Despite his size, he's relatively quick on his feet and his gifted hands make him an exceptional lead blocker.

Even though he didn't see a lot of starting time until his last two years at Oklahoma, Guyton made the most of his opportunities. He's played 546 passing snaps since the start of the 2022 college football season, only giving up 11 hurries, three quarterback hits, and a pair of sacks.

I wouldn't expect Guyton to become an elite tackle as a rookie, but it's clear that he has the makings to be someone special. Dallas has a long history of developing world-class offensive linemen and the former Sooner could be the next name on that list with the right development.

Regardless of who the Cowboys draft in Round 1, all signs point to them addressing the frontline. After all, FanDuel Sportsbook currently favors Dallas to take an offensive lineman (-250) at Pick No. 24 on Thursday.
