After winning Game 1 against the Tampa Bay Rays, and currently leading big in the middle of Game 2, Texas Rangers fans are already looking ahead to the team's next potential MLB Playoffs opponent.

Luckily for Texas, the club doesn't have to wait around and wonder who its next matchup will be. With that in mind, here's a look ahead at the Rangers' opponent for the 2023 AL Division Series, assuming they take down Tampa Bay.

Who Will the Rangers Play Next in the 2023 MLB Playoffs?

If the Rangers defeat the Rays in the 4 vs. 5 AL Wild Card series, Texas would then face the 1-seed Baltimore Orioles in the ALDS. Baltimore finished the 2023 season as the American League's top team after posting a record of 101-61. The Orioles also received a bye for the Wild Card round as a reward for being one of the league's best two clubs record-wise.

Baltimore's two-pronged attack makes this team a deadly threat. Not only did the Orioles finish with the seventh-most runs scored across the majors this season, but their staff of hurlers also ranked seventh in combined ERA, showing the talent they have across the roster.

Texas and Baltimore squared off six total times during the 2023 campaign, with both teams recording a 3-3 record. The Orioles won the initial series between these sides at Globe Life Field in the beginning of April, holding the Rangers to just two runs combined during their pair of losses.

However, Bruce Bochy's squad repaid the favor by winning their rematch in late May. Texas' offense came back to life, outscoring Baltimore 17-5 across their two wins.

While the Orioles will have the rest advantage, the Rangers will already have gotten the playoff jitters out of the way. Plus, recording two early postseason wins is sure to give this club plenty of momentum that could propel them to upset the AL's top team.

If it is Texas vs. Baltimore in one of the ALDS matchups, these teams will begin their series on Saturday, Oct. 7 at Camden Yards. The time and TV channel are both to be determined as of writing.
