With Blake Snell being signed by the Dodgers earlier in the week, many teams across the league are looking to follow suit and sign arms to solidify their rotation. It appears that one of the most coveted pitchers on the market this off-season is Rangers ace Nathan Eovaldi, who has reportedly gained the attention of several teams looking to sign Eovaldi as a reliable arm in their rotation.

Eovaldi came to the Rangers prior to the 2023 season and quickly engraved himself as a legendary member of the DFW sports landscape after putting on a historical postseason run where he carried the Rangers to their first World Series title in franchise history.

He's remained the most consistent pitcher in the Rangers rotation throughout 2024, as he was one of the few bright spots in a dismantled rotation that was plagued by injuries throughout the entire season.

Since the season concluded, Eovaldi declined his $20 million player option, making him a free agent for the first time since leaving the Red Sox after the 2022 season. Since being on the market, Eovaldi has gained interest from several teams, including the Atlanta Braves and Baltimore Orioles, two teams looking to make a deep postseason run going into 2025 and looking for Eovaldi’s veteran presence to stabilize their already promising rotations.

While Eovaldi would be a great addition to either franchise, the Rangers still hope they will be able to re-sign him this off-season. Earlier this month, team president Chris Young released a statement about the Rangers' hope to re-sign Eovaldi, saying, “ We're still going to work towards hopefully getting him back in the Rangers uniform."

Overall, it would be devastating for the Rangers if Eovaldi decides to sign with another team.

He has been one of few consistent pitchers for the Rangers over the past two seasons and would be sorely missed by the Rangers as their rotation still appears to be as dismantled as it was last season.
