It's been a heck of a training camp for the Dallas Cowboys, and they capped off a job well done in preseason with a dominant defensive effort against the Los Angeles Rams, a team widely expected to be in the Super Bowl.
In an interview on 'Up and Adams,' Brian Schottenheimer caught up with Kay Adams on a gold coin that Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay shared with him. As a Super Bowl-winning coach who has high expectations, he told Schotty something no Cowboys fan can ignore.
"Man Schotty, you guys have adjusted your roster a little bit," McVay told Schottenheimer.

Schotty added that McVay didn't get to go against Kenny Clark, Caleb Downs, Quinnen Williams, Rashan Gary and Dee Winters. This is a much different roster on paper, and McVay started to feel it in the joint practice.
Some Cowboys reporters said the defense against the Rams' offense wasn't even close. In case anybody needed more support for that, UDFA linebacker Justin Barron racked up three interceptions. He came out of nowhere for a dominant showing and almost assured a spot on the 53-man roster. It doesn't usually happen overnight, but Barron is an exception here.
It appears the same vibe is being felt all around defensively. Per Joseph Hoyt, the Cowboys look to have a confident cornerback in Shavon Revel, who had a realization when facing the Rams this week. He has done nothing but great things all summer long. He's looking like a No. 1 CB, especially if DaRon Bland continues on his current trajectory.
The front seven looks like one of the best in the league, and that argument has more teeth after Williams was named the best defensive tackle.
Again, coming from McVay says a lot. He's always been a fine head coach despite being the youngest coach in modern NFL history at 30. He has since been to two Super Bowls and won one. He was also the AP NFL Coach of the Year in his first season.
Schotty still has a long way to go to reach those heights, but McVay has a long career still ahead of him, too. With the addition of Myles Garrett, the Rams will be right there competing for the Lombardi Trophy, but the Cowboys may also have a case with what they've done.
There are plenty of things to fix, and the Cowboys have a lot of new faces, but this is huge coming from a Super Bowl champion coach, and it's time Cowboys fans noticed that.
