Stefon Diggs' bold WR2 statement will have Cowboys fans quick to object

You sure about that?

Thankfully, after George Pickens signed the franchise tag and attended mandatory minicamp, it looks like there won't be much drama with the Dallas Cowboys this offseason. All they have to do is prepare for Week 1 and ensure that Pickens keeps his momentum with his impressive 2025 campaign.

If we're judging the current Cowboys' depth chart, CeeDee Lamb is WR1, and Pickens is WR2, but Stefon Diggs, an unsigned free agent, made a bold statement on his YouTube page saying there isn't a better WR2 than him.

"You can't name a number two better than me...Let's presumably give people the credit and just say, 'Okay, you want to take the number one spot away?' Name your number two receiver right now, and tell me how much he makes, and then my last question is: Is he better than me?"

George Pickens should have the last laugh over Stefon Diggs' claim of the best WR2 options

Cowboys fans, time to go nuts.

Actually, there's a reason for multiple fan bases to go nuts here. Think about the Los Angeles Rams, who have Puka Nacua and Davante Adams. What about Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins for the Cincinnati Bengals? The defending champion Seattle Seahawks? Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Cooper Kupp would have something to say there.

For Pickens, he has every reason to make a case against Diggs here. In 2025, Pickens earned his first All-Pro nod and had 93 receptions for 1,429 receiving yards and nine touchdowns. With Lamb and Pickens, they each have a case to be WR1, and Lamb has even mentioned it before.

Before Pickens even took a real snap, Lamb had Pickens' back, saying there's no "1A or 1B," and both WRs are No. 1 options. Bold move at the time, but Lamb was 100 percent correct. It doesn't even matter how much anyone makes, and the numbers prove it.

As for Diggs, numbers don't even compare to Pickens. The Patriot WR finished 2025 with 85 receptions, 1,013 receiving yards and four touchdowns. In the playoffs, he wasn't as much of a factor, further adding to the head-scratching statement Diggs made.

It would still be a surprise to see Diggs off of an NFL roster, as he can still be a viable option for any team, but is he really in the position to make this kind of statement? He's still unsigned, but he may be trying his best at creating his own recruitment video here.

At the end, if we're comparing the WR2 position, most specifically between the Patriots and Cowboys, the Cowboys will have the edge any day of the week. Much respect to Kayshon Boutte and Diggs, but Pickens has the edge at WR2 in this case.
