Dallas Cowboys fans are brimming with anticipation because organized team activities (OTAs) are right around the corner. This year's OTAs will begin on Monday, offering the fanbase its first real glimpse at the Cowboys' offseason moves, from their free-agent signings to the George Pickens trade and everything in between.
The upcoming OTAs will also be an opportunity to return to the field for veterans who dealt with injuries throughout the 2024 campaign; however, Cowboys fans shouldn't expect to see Trevon Diggs in the mix. The 26-year-old cornerback only played in 11 games last year and last appeared in Week 14 before undergoing season-ending knee surgery.
Diggs' recovery has gone well so far this offseason; however, he's unlikely to play until after the 2025 season begins. Still, that won't stop Cowboys fans from getting excited about the latest injury update that just dropped.
Cowboys CB Trevon Diggs Hits New Recovery Milestone Before OTAs
Diggs has been rehabbing his knee with Dr. Sharif Tabbah, a physical therapy doctor who's helped professional athletes recover from numerous procedures. On Friday, Tabbah posted a video to his Instagram page that shows the Cowboys cornerback taking his rehab to the next level.
"First day moving," Tabbah wrote in a caption over the video of Diggs doing lateral movement drills (h/t @Brandoniswrite).
Even though it wasn't the most action-packed video, Diggs being able to start moving is a great sign for his return to play. He'll still likely begin training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list, but all signs point to Dallas' elite disruptor making a full recovery.
Hopefully, Diggs' positive progress is a sign that the entire Cowboys CB room will experience a healthy 2025 season. None of Dallas' cornerbacks reached double-digit appearances in 2024, nor played more than seven games.
Diggs did the best to make the most of his 11 outings, registering 35 solo tackles, 11 broken-up passes, and a pair of interceptions. His 60.3 Pro Football Focus coverage grade was a new career-low, though, highlighting the need for him to be more reliable whenever he returns to the gridiron.
A healthy cornerback room will be paramount to any potential success the Cowboys' secondary sees in 2025. The injury-marred unit finished last season with a 61.4 coverage grade (T-19th), which was a far cry from their mark of 81.8 (9th) in 2023.
The Cowboys also need their CBs to remain healthy to help prove oddsmakers wrong next season. As it stands, FanDuel Sportsbook is currently favoring Dallas to miss the 2025-26 NFL playoffs at -220 odds, just before OTAs begin.
