With the MLB off-season kicking into full swing, two Rangers alumni have made news this week for accepting high-profile coaching positions with two teams looking to be in contention going into 2025.

A little less than a week ago, it was announced that former Rangers manager Chris Woodward would be returning to the Los Angeles Dodgers coaching staff, where he will serve as first base coach for the upcoming season.

It was also announced earlier this week that former longtime Rangers catcher Robinson Chrinos will be joining the Baltimore Orioles as a bench coach under current manager Brandon Hyde, who Chirinos had an opportunity to briefly play for during the final season of his career in 2022.

This will be Chrinos' first coaching gig in the MLB after an eleven-year career in the MLB. He spent five of those years in Arlington as the Rangers' primary catcher and was known at the time for being a strong leader in the clubhouse, and somebody, the team's rookies, could look to for guidance.

Due to Chirinos' strong leadership abilities and wealth of baseball knowledge, there is no question that he has the qualities to become a manager in the MLB. It will be interesting to see how Chrinnos contributes to this Orioles team, which currently appears to be one of the most promising young teams in the American League.

As mentioned earlier, former Rangers manager Chris Woodward will also be making his return to coaching after serving as a member of the Dodgers player development staff for the past two years. Woodward managed the Rangers from 2019 to 2022, and while the Rangers were not able to find much success under him, he did play a crucial role in recruiting his former player Corey Seager to come to Arlington following the 2021 season.

This will be Woodward's second stint on Dave Roberts's coaching staff. He was a third base coach for the Dodgers for two seasons prior to joining the Rangers in 2018.

Earlier this week, Dodgers general manager Brandon Gomes released a statement about Woodward's return, stating, "He has been a staple to this organization, helping us to back-to-back NL pennants and was a key cog to our success last season. Chris will be an invaluable part of the team moving forward."

Overall, it is great to hear that Woodward is doing well. While he was never able to find much success with the Rangers, he was always well-liked by fans and media due to the genuine kindness and sincerity he showed to everyone around him.
