The Dallas Cowboys feel they have a chance to become contenders in the 2025 season once again. This isn't due to a slew of splashy new additions or major front office changes, but the return of the team's franchise quarterback. Yes, the addition of George Pickens aids this hope and is a piece of the excitement.

Still, what is driving belief in this team's potential ceiling is the return of Dak Prescott and what he means to this franchise. While the playoff wins haven't come as often as the team would like, there is no denying how impressive a story the veteran continues to be.

Watching Dak Prescott return during the offseason serves as a reminder of this team's ceiling when he is in the lineup. Cowboys fans were given a taste of just how limited this team was when Prescott isn't under center. It is an average roster that is reliant on its franchise quarterback and defensive stars to tilt the game against more talented groups. Prescott's leadership and poise continue to be the only things giving Dallas a chance to hold off mediocrity.

Dak Prescott Continues to Impress Cowboys Fans

What makes it all the more impressive is the fact that this was never supposed to be the script. Prescott made a career of defying the odds and finding ways to get the job done when least expected. The frustration of a lack of playoff wins should be put on a front office and coaching staff that is yet to take advantage of having a group of the league's best players.

Whether it is turning the clock back to Zeke Elliott and Prescott or the trio of the quarterback, CeeDee Lamb, and Micah Parsons, this team has had a number of impressive combinations. Yet they are still unable to take advantage of this talent and build a complete roster capable of making a deep run.

Keeping this in mind, Prescott deserves more credit for what he has accomplished during his tenure. Dallas admitted this when they handed the veteran quarterback a top-dollar extension that reminded the league of the value of the position.

Without Prescott, this is a meaningless team that would be competing for a top-ten pick. Even with its star receivers, we've seen just how little this franchise matters when Prescott isn't healthy. All of this adds up to an important reminder of just how special the quarterback is and what his return could mean for the 2025 season.
