The Dallas Cowboys have several tough decisions to make when it comes to which players will make the cut for their 53-man roster at the conclusion of training camp.

Dallas brought in plenty of new faces over the offseason, and now the coaching staff is tasked with identifying which players are the best fits. Given the expectations facing the Cowboys this season, there will be pressure on head coach Brian Schottenheimer and the coaching staff to make the right decisions.

With players battling for spots all over the roster, there will be no shortage of intriguing news to follow once the Cowboys reunite and prepare to tackle the preseason. One fan favorite in particular could be more likely than his peers to be left on the outside looking in when it's all said and done.

Cowboys RB Deuce Vaughn Couldn’t Buy His Roster Spot Even if He Wanted to

Cowboys fans will never forget the heartwarming moment shared in the Dallas war room when the franchise selected former Kansas State Wildcats running back Deuce Vaughn with the No. 212 overall pick in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

As great as it was to see Deuce's father, a scout for the Cowboys, brought in to inform his son of the news that he'd been drafted by Dallas. Vaughn's opportunities between the numbers have been few and far between over the first two years of his professional career. And now, just to make the roster, he has to beat out two established veterans and a talented rookie draft pick.

Free-agent signings Miles Sanders or Javonte Williams will be the starting running back in Dallas once the regular season arrives. This much we can predict. How things shake out behind those two, and rookie running back Jaydon Blue, will be determined by how the players in the running back room can coexist.

For his career, Vaughn has 40 total carries for 110 yards and 10 receptions for 58 yards. Those numbers will never jump at you from the page and, unfortunately, could be what spells the end of Vaughn's tenure in Dallas.
