The Dallas Cowboys (0-1) travel to the nation’s capital to take on the Washington Redskins (0-1). Here are what the experts are predicting.

The Dallas Cowboys are unsure of what they have this season. Are they closer to the 4-12 team from last season or the 12-4 team from the season before? They aim to answer that today when they take on the defending NFC East Champions, the Washington Redskins.

Here are the game predictions…

Numbers-wise, the Dallas defense allowed fewer yards last week than the Redskins did, but they were facing the offensively anemic New York Giants. On the other hand, Washington faced the pass-happy Pittsburgh Steelers. Therefore, this game is going to be all about which offense can inflict the most pain upon the other.

Expect Jason Garrett to hand a little more freedom to rookie quarterback Dak Prescott this week, which will open the running lanes a little more for rookie running back Ezekiel Elliott. Prescott will have a solid day, passing for 170 yards with two touchdown passes (to Jason Witten and Dez Bryant) and one interception and Elliott will run for 100 for the first time in his NFL career with two touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Kirk Cousins will have a great game and pass the 300 yard mark for a second week in a row. He will toss four touchdown passes of his own with a possible pick, too. There may be a special teams score or two in there as well. The difference will be Dan Bailey‘s leg.

Prediction — Dallas 38, Washington 35

I want to say the Cowboys will win. I want to say that Garrett will adjust and take a few chances. Unfortunately I don’t have faith in the coaching staff. Historically Garrett is overly conservative.

If the Cowboys want to win they have to find ways to get Dez, Zeke, and Morris the ball.  Garrett can’t play it safe as they don’t have a defense they can rely on to help out.

This is an away game so I think the Skins will win.

Prediction – Dallas 20 Washington 24

In what will be another classic game between two divisional rivals, the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Redskins play in an important must-win game as both squads try to avoid going 0-2.

If Dallas loses, it’ll be 0-2 in the division.

I expect the Cowboys to commit to the run game and feed Alfred Morris and Ezekeil Elliott the ball constantly. Look for Morris to have a big day as he returns to his former team. The Cowboys dominate and exploit the Redskins defensive line, and look for Dez Bryant to have more catches.

The Cowboys win a close game in the nation’s capital.

For as pessimistic as I was last week, I’m optimistic this week. Against the Giants, the Cowboys struggled executing what was supposed to be their strengths – Dez Bryant, the offensive line, and Ezekiel Elliott. Instead, it was their weakness that looked better-than-advertised and it’s for that reason I expect the Dallas Cowboys to triumph over the defending NFC East Champs.

Ezekiel Elliott and the running game are going to struggle at first but when all is said and done, both Zeke and Alfred Morris will have had an excellent afternoon.

Dak Prescott is going to force the ball downfield and push the Redskins back in coverage. He’s going to throw his first interception, but he’s also going to get a pair of passing touchdowns and a rushing TD to keep the ‘skins on their heels.

The defense gets gashed by Jordan Reed but shuts down the rest. In the end, the Dallas Cowboys’ defense does enough and the offense takes risks. A big day for the “214” (Zeke and Dak).
