Update: Beebe will miss 6-8 weeks with a high-ankle sprain, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Our original story follows below.
The Dallas Cowboys may have gotten their first win of the 2025 NFL season on Sunday, but the victory over the New York Giants came at a steep cost.
Now, sitting on a 1-1 record, head coach Brian Schottenheimer's team has all eyes set on starting center Cooper Beebe. The second-year Cowboy had to leave the game early with an apparent ankle injury, leaving Dallas fans to fear the worst. Unfortunately, the initial injury reports aren't that encouraging.
Cowboys OL Cooper Beebe Needed Assistance to Locker Room in Week 2 Win
As shown by The Athletic's Jon Machota on X, Beebe needed plenty of help getting to the locker room, as he couldn't put weight on his ankle. Per reports, his ankle was so swollen that he had to use crutches to move around the locker room.
The Cowboys didn't offer an update on Beebe's status. He will most likely undergo more testing on Monday, and we should have more information after that.
Schottenheimer turned to backup center Brock Hoffman to replace Beebe at the beginning of overtime, and it surely paid off. He made a huge block that opened up some space for quarterback Dak Prescott to record a crucial 14-yard scramble with just under 40 seconds left in overtime. Then, kicker Brandon Aubrey put it to bed with a game-winning 46-yard field goal.
Even so, while Hoffman is a capable replacement, the 2024 third-round selection out of Kansas State has already established himself as a pillar of the Cowboys' new-look offensive line. He made 16 starts and was on the field for over 90% of the offensive snaps as a rookie.
The Cowboys will certainly hope that this is a low-ankle or minor injury, as those don't take that long to heal. But if it's a high-ankle sprain, he could be looking at at least a month on the shelf.
To add insult to injury -- literally -- All-Pro kick returner KaVontae Turpin also had to leave the game early with a neck injury. He took a big hit on a kick return late in the third quarter and was spotted wearing a neck brace after the game.
The Cowboys will be on the road next season to face a winless Chicago Bears team, and these injuries will be something to keep a close eye on throughout the course of the week. Hopefully, Dallas fans will see them on the field to continue with the team's newfound momentum.
