The Dallas Stars could be in the trade market for some big-name players as the team looks to make a playoff push. Rick Nash could be an option.

The Dallas Stars have improved steadily over the course of the season and now they own the fifth best record in the western conference. The team could look to make some moves before the trade deadline however as they can always get stronger.

The Stars first line has been one of the best in hockey however they can improve the rest of the roster.

Who exactly should Dallas trade for? Well, that is a seemingly convoluted question with several answers, but there are only a couple that makes sense. Adding some extra talent to the Dallas Stars second line should give them an extra push as we head into the final quarter of the season.

The New York Rangers could be looking to sell off some of their bigger commodities and at this stage of the season. A few names being thrown around have been Ryan McDonagh, Mats Zuccarello, Rick Nash, and basically anyone who has significant value.

This is a big development as the Rangers have pretty much-been playoff contenders for the last seven years, blowing up their roster will generate some pretty big ripples throughout the NHL. The Stars could take advantage of the situation by landing one of the Broadway Blueshirt’s biggest stars.

Rick Nash is definitely at a crossroads in his career. At 33 he still has a few years left of offensive relevance and should be a solid veteran as he gets older. But something interesting is going on with one of the Rangers most important offensive players, he is beginning to break out.

He is finally getting into a consistent rhythm that has allowed him to score regularly over the last few contests. Nash right now would be a significant addition to the Dallas Stars roster especially if he keeps playing the way he has been over the last three weeks. But Nash is not the only superstar that Dallas could target.

More from Dallas Stars

Imagine a defensive pairing like John Klingberg and Ryan McDonagh? That is technically possible as the Stars could trade for him basically as a rental player as his he will need a new contract by the end of the season. Even if the Stars do not pair both Klingberg and McDonagh together their defensive unit will improve tremendously.

If the Dallas Stars wants to have a long push in the playoffs they may need to add some extra firepower and the Rangers fire sale may be the right place to find the talent needed to get to the Stanley Cup.  It would also help Dallas stay afloat if anything were to happen to one of the big three (Jamie Benn/Alexander Radulov/Tyler Seguin) or Klingberg.
