Round 4 – Tim Settle – Defensive Tackle – Virginia Tech

The Dallas Cowboys should be looking for a 1 technique defensive tackle. Enter the mountain of a human, Tim Settle. At 6’3” 335 pounds, you would think Settle would be a run stuffer. However, you would be right and wrong. In 2017, Settle had 4 sacks, 12.5 tackles for loss, and one pass batted. SImply put, Settle disrupts games. Oh, he even had a blocked kick as well.

Settle is not a name many are talking about yet, which is why right now he should be around in the fourth round. If he makes some noise at the combine that could all change. While the NFL doesn’t value the traditional nose tackle like they used to, Settle is far from the throwback nose tackle. However, many teams will look elsewhere for help along their defensive front. He will need a little work on releasing from blocks and finding the running back. However, teams had to game plan for him against Virginia Tech so that may help him with stronger talent around him.

This round really is fun to pick in as JC Jackson is still on the board as is offensive tackle Will Richardson. Both could easily be scooped up but it was something about watching Settle play that just made me like him more than the others. This could be a huge steal in the long run.

Here is a highlight reel of Settle. I would also tell you to go back and watch the Virginia Tech and West Virginia game for more of an entire game footage on him.
