Dallas Cowboys Draft: 5 Different CBs in 5 Different Rounds
Round 2
Round two is more of a mixed bag. This round offers some more scheme specific guys, but the good news is these guys who are really good in those schemes they play. We can’t be sure exactly what Mike Nolan is targeting in player traits/proficiencies but chances are someone in this round is to his liking (we just hope that player is available at Pick 51).
Trevon Diggs is a borderline first rounder and may not last to 51, Cameron Dantzler is more of a zone specialist, and Jaylon Johnson needs work staying with receivers through the entire route. Enter A.J. Terrell as the fit here.
Terrell is more of a man coverage guy but will need to add some strength to call him a true bump and run type corner. He stays with receivers through the route and has good ball skills. He is a willing tackler and doesn’t give up many yards due to bad form. He can get a bit grabby, but with more functional strength should overcome that.
Terrell isn’t going to be Henderson’s level right away, but looks good enough to develop into a top corner. He will need a little strength work and some technique refinement, but isn’t going to be a negative if he has to play right away.
