3 free agents the Dallas Cowboys must sign

Ndamukong Suh, DT

Age: 35

Suh has been a polarizing figure in the NFL for over a decade. The Super Bowl winning tackle has bounced from team to team, making significant impacts every stop and becoming a reliable presence in the middle of a variety of defensive fronts.

After playing on three consecutive one-year deals, Suh has taken each season as they come. While that can certainly be seen as a red flag to those looking for hassle-free players, his reliability and impact on the game cannot be questioned.

Throughout his time in Tampa, the Bucs have been the best run-stopping unit in the NFL. Suh has been nothing short of an iron man throughout his career. Even last season at the ripe old age of 35, Suh played all 17 games and in the playoffs. While his snaps were a career low 798, that’s a number none of the Dallas Cowboys defensive tackles achieved last season.

Suh’s best days are long behind him but that doesn’t mean he can’t help the Dallas Cowboys as a rotational force in the middle. As a tone-setter, Suh would improve the unit as a whole and take over the veteran role Brent Urban most recently held.

For as optimistic as we are about John Ridgeway, Day 3 rookie DTs rarely make a significant difference in Year 1. Suh could help ease the transition to the younger players who are still physically developing.
