2. D.J. Reed, CB

The Cowboys had cornerback Trevon Diggs' season end early due to a knee injury. Diggs landed on IR in December but underwent surgery on his left knee on Thursday. His injury could linger into training camp, putting his status for the start of the season.

Just last season, DaRon Bland had a stress fracture in his foot and missed 10 games. With their two corners dealing with suffering injuries in 2024, the Cowboys would be smart to add more playmakers to the position.

One player who has a history with Schottenheimer is cornerback D.J. Reed. These guys crossed paths with the Seattle Seahawks in 2020.

Since then, Reed has elevated his play, playing great football with the San Francisco 49ers and New York Jets. Over the last three seasons with the Jets, Reed supplied 220 total tackles, 32 pass deflections, two forced fumbles, and two interceptions.

According to PFF, Reed had a 70.7 overall grade with a 91.7 passer rating allowed in 2024. This would be an outstanding addition for the Cowboys to help build a great trio of cornerbacks, especially since Diggs' status is up in the air for the start of the 2025 season.
