The most exciting time of the year for football fans is almost here, as NFL free agency is days away from beginning.

As usual, the Dallas Cowboys are one team that a lot of people have their focus on this offseason. It goes without saying that owner/general manager Jerry Jones' "All In" approach last offseason didn't pay off, leaving time to tell if the Cowboys' allegedly less aggressive plan of attack will yield better results.

Dallas has various positions it'll be looking to upgrade in the coming days and will try to replace any underperforming players. With that being said, these four Cowboys are on thin ice just days before the market opens.

1. Deuce Vaughn, RB

One Cowboy who's at risk of being replaced by a free agent signing is none other than running back Deuce Vaughn.

Vaughn, who was drafted 212th overall in 2023, has had a relatively underwhelming start to his NFL career. After impressing in training camp just under two years ago, the former Kansas State RB has made a minimal impact when it counts, only tallying 110 rushing yards without a touchdown on 40 carries across 14 games.

Only sparsely involved in the offense, Vaughn only averaging 2.8 yards per carry to begin his career is inexcusable. It doesn't help that he's struggled to make a positive impact as a receiver, too, turning 10 receptions into just 58 receiving yards (5.8 per catch).

As it stands, Vaughn and Malik Davis are the only Cowboys RBs under contract now that Rico Dowdle is set to hit the open market this week. In other words, Dallas will all but certainly add another running back or two in free agency, whether they're signed to be the new lead back or to provide a veteran presence for a rookie arriving through the draft.

Unless he outperforms any potential addition, Vaughn's chances of cracking next season's 53-man roster aren't looking too promising.
