The first month of the NFL offseason was a busy one for the Dallas Cowboys. An underwhelming 2024 performance led to the Cowboys replacing Mike McCarthy with Brian Schottenheimer as the new head coach, hoping that the promoted offensive coordinator can bring glory to America's Team in 2025.

Schottenheimer has spent the last few weeks filling out his coaching staff, mostly recently hiring Arizona Cardinals offensive line coach Klayton Adams to be his OC going forward. The 51-year-old bench boss isn't close to being finished with his hires, and it looks like a new (and familiar) face could be joining his staff sooner rather than later.

Cowboys Set to Interview Former RB Tashard Choice

DLLS Sports' Clarence Hill Jr. is reporting that Texas Longhorns running backs coach and ex-Dallas RB Tashard Choice is set to interview with the Cowboys on Saturday. The news comes about two weeks after Forth Worth Star-Telegram's Nick Harris reported that owner Jerry Jones "would like" to have the 40-year-old coach on the 2025 staff.

Cowboys fans will remember Choice from when he was drafted 122nd overall by the team back in 2008. The former Oklahoma/Georgia Tech product's time in Dallas lasted until he was placed on waivers midway through the 2011 campaign, finishing his tenure with 1,636 scrimmage yards and eight touchdowns on 314 touches across 54 games.

Choice went on to play 34 more games across three organizations before, eventually retiring in 2014. He joined the Cowboys as a coaching intern in 2016 before coaching running backs in North Texas (2018), Georgia Tech (2019-21), and Texas (2022-24). Those local connections will make him a Dallas fan favorite in no time.

Jones seems to have a thing for former Cowboys this offseason. Both Jason Witten and Deion Sanders were names linked to the head coaching role before Schottenheimer was hired. Additionally, fellow ex-RB DeMarco Murray was another former fan favorite that the eccentric billionaire was reportedly eyeing.

Former players don't always make the best coaches, so it'll be interesting to see how Choice will fare on the Cowboys' staff. After last year's abysmal performance, anything is worth a try.
