It's been a difficult six months for the Dallas Cowboys and their fans. They finished the 2024 season with a 7-10 record and missed the playoffs. To make matters worse, they had to watch the Philadelphia Eagles hoist the Lombardi Trophy.

The rest of the league has shifted their attention over to making improvements to their team for 2025. The Cowboys named Brian Schottenheimer as their new head coach. He's done a solid job filling out his coaching staff but made his first mistake with his latest addition.

Per Calvin Watkins, Dallas is naming Ken Dorsey as their passing game specialist.

Cowboys News: Ken Dorsey Will Be On Dallas’ Coaching Staff

Dorsey has been on the Carolina Panthers, Buffalo Bills, and Cleveland Browns coaching staffs. From 2022-23, he was the Bills offensive coordinator but things ended on a bad note there. In November 2023, Buffalo fired Dorsey and replaced him with Joe Brady.

During that time, Buffalo was struggling with turnovers and sustaining drives. With Dorsey out of town, the Bills offense took a jump under Brady. This past season, Buffalo was 10th in total offense (359.1) while being ninth in passing offense (227.9) and rushing offense (131.2). They were also second in scoring offense (30.9).

Meanwhile, Dorsey spent this last season as the Browns offensive coordinator and that unit was pitiful. In 2024, Cleveland was 28th in total offense (300.8), 22nd in passing offense (206.2), 29th in rushing offense (94.6), and 32nd in scoring offense (15.2). On Jan. 5, Cleveland decided to fire Dorsey after one season.

And now the Cowboys are bringing him onto their staff, which is a big red flag. At his last two stops, he was let go due to lackluster units.

Although he won't be their offensive coordinator, being on the offensive staff doesn't sound exciting based on his track record.
