The Dallas Cowboys accomplished their main priority last month when they hired Brian Schottenheimer as their next head coach. While Schottenheimer wasn't any Cowboys fan's first choice, it's who owner Jerry Jones chose. Despite Jones' claim that Dallas is focused on winning now, their roster construction suggests otherwise.

One area the Cowboys must improve at is wide receiver. Currently, the Cowboys only have one true receiving threat in CeeDee Lamb. In 2024, Lamb led the team with 101 receptions for 1,194 yards and six touchdowns. One of Jones and Schottenheimer's goals this offseason should be to add a viable threat opposite of Lamb.

Luckily for Dallas, the Los Angeles Rams are looking to move on from star receiver Cooper Kuup, and the trade value isn't expected to be high. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, people around the NFL could see Kupp going for a fourth-round pick, which is what veteran Kennan Allen went for last offseaosn. If that is all the Rams are looking to get for the 30-year-old, Dallas should definitely pursue Kupp.

Dallas Must Trade for Cooper Kupp this Offseason

Last offseason, the Chicago Bears traded a fourth-round pick for Allen in hopes of helping their rookie quarterback Caleb Williams. Although Allen didn't have the season many expected in Chicago, he still had a decent year, recording 70 receptions on 121 targets for 744 yards and seven touchdowns.

Unfortunately, Allen had six drops last season, which was the second most in his career. The previous campaign, Allen recorded 108 receptions on 150 targets for 1,243 yards and seven touchdowns. So, Allen took a considerable step back -- which may give any team looking at Kupp some pause on the idea of trading for a wideout in a similar position.

That said, Kupp's reached heights Allen never has, and the former was efficient when healthy this past campaign, recording 67 receptions on 100 targets for 710 yards and six touchdowns. He did miss six games in 2024, marking the third season in a row Kupp he's been sidelined due to injuries.

Nonetheless, Kupp is still a productive player when he is on the field, and the Cowboys definitely need that. His stock taking a bit of a hit in recent years following his electric 2021 campaign also may turn out to Dallas' benefit, as acquiring an All-Pro wideout for a fourth-round pick could end up paying massive dividends for the 'Boys if he regains his prior form.
