Brutal Dak Prescott Injury Update Officially Ends Cowboys' Playoff Hopes
By Jovan Alford
The injuries continue to pile up for the Dallas Cowboys as starting quarterback Dak Prescott suffered a hamstring injury in Sunday’s loss to the Atlanta Falcons.
Prescott picked up the injury late in the second half and didn’t return to the game. Backup QB Cooper Rush took over for the Cowboys, leading one scoring drive. After the game, Prescott was limping back to the locker room, which is never a good sign.
Prescott spoke to reporters after Sunday’s loss about his injury. According to Jon Machota of The Athletic, the veteran quarterback said “I felt something pull. I felt something I’ve never felt before.”
The Cowboys hoped Prescott’s injury wasn’t too serious, but it seems as if their concerns were warranted.
Cowboys News: Dak Prescott Expected to Miss Multiple Weeks With Hamstring Injury
According to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, Prescott is expected to miss multiple weeks because of the injury. Pelissero adds that the Cowboys haven’t decided whether they will place the veteran quarterback on injured reserve.
Dallas can ill-afford to lose Prescott for multiple weeks, especially with its playoff hopes hanging on by a thread after dropping their third-straight game on Sunday.
The Cowboys are considered longshots to win the NFC East (+3000 on DraftKings Sportsbook) after the latest news injury regarding Prescott. Dallas will prepare to get Rush and Trey Lance up to speed for its Week 10 clash against the Philadelphia Eagles. The last time Rush started in a game for Dallas was coincidentally against the Eagles in Week 6 of the 2022 season.
