The Dallas Cowboys 2024 season was extremely underwhelming. This team went 7-10 and missed the playoffs. To make matters worse, the Philadelphia Eagles and the Washington Commanders are set to match up in the NFC Championship Game for a trip to the Super Bowl.
Meanwhile, the Cowboys are in the midst of a coaching search after parting ways with Mike McCarthy after five seasons together. With a long offseason ahead of them, the Cowboys made some roster moves on Jan. 6. They signed G Jack Anderson, DBs Luq Barcoo and Troy Pride, DT Denzel Dexon, WRs Kelvin Harmon, Jalen Moreno-Cropper and Seth Williams, LBs Brock Mogensen and Luiji Vilain to reserve/futures contracts.
Then on Jan. 9, they also signed RB Malik Davis to reserve/future. While they did that, the Cowboys had part ways with five guys.
Dallas released G Dakoda Shepley, S Dee Delaney, OG Braeden Daniels, RB Dalvin Cook, and DT Jalen Dalton.
With a new coach coming into the fold, these five guys didn't do enough to persuade Jerry Jones and company to keep them around. The Cowboys have their work cut out for them to improve this roster and get them back to a place where they are one of the top teams in the league.
That remains to be seen as long as Jones is around. The biggest question right now is who will be the head coach for the Cowboys. Since they took too long to make a decision on McCarthy, they limited their coaching pool.
Now, they are behind the eight-ball and are playing catch up to bring in a new voice. The two names linked to the Cowboys right now are Brian Schottenheimer and Kellen Moore. It appears the hype behind Deion Sanders is fading, and that isn't what Cowboys fans want to hear.
