Cowboys backup and current starting QB Cooper Rush came out with a victory over the lowly Panthers, yet his persistent issues proved why he can't remain Dallas' second option.

Dak Prescott has endured several injuries during his career, creating importance at the backup position. Teams like Kansas City invested in Carson Wentz, teams like Dallas decided to go to war with Rush.

It was a poor decision at its face despite Rush's solid play in 2023. Now, it looks like yet another disastrous mistake by one of the NFL's worst front offices.

Cowboys Backup QB Cooper Rush Has One Fatal Flaw

Rush has one dramatic fatal flaw that makes it quite difficult to play the position he's chosen for a career path: he cannot hang onto the football.

He fumbled again after that tweet was posted, meaning he's put the ball on the ground a whopping nine times in his appearances since the start of November. Even if the Cowboys' offensive line is struggling, there is no excuse for his poor level of play.

The organization acquired Trey Lance in a questionable decision. Jerry Jones is one topic, but the handling of Dallas' draft picks is another. Fans can count on one hand the number of good picks since Micah Parsons joined the franchise, signaling that perhaps a different voice should be heard regarding decisions that actually impact the football field.

Jones is a master at marketing. He's awful at building successful teams in this league. That's not shocking news to Cowboys fans, who are still figuring out if Mike McCarthy will come back or not, but it's still a stunning piece of information to the man in charge.

Unless Jones recognizes he's incapable of building a team with Super Bowl dreams, the Cowboys will continue to trot guys like Rush out on the field with no hope of hoisting a Lombardi Trophy.
