The Cowboys received a major piece of injury news for veteran guard Zack Martin, who has been one of Dallas' best players for over a decade.

Unfortunately, Martin's latest injury likely spells the end for his time with the organization and potentially as an NFL player. He's done for the season, theoretically marking the end of a potential Hall of Famer's career.

A nine-time All-Pro, Martin is without question one of the best players of his generation.

Mike McCarthy Shares Big Zack Martin Update

During his 11-year career with the organization, Martin started all 162 of his games. He's been a marvel of consistency and was just nominated as the team's representative for the Walter Peyton Man of the Year award.

With Martin on the last year of his contract, McCarthy clarified that the team has no intention of replacing him. He's a future Hall of Famer and is a definite leader of the franchise. Jerry Jones knows as well how important Martin is, so the team will do everything it can to properly honor him.

Regardless, it's clear the Cowboys are preparing for Martin's inevitable departure. He's 34 years old and at interior offensive line, that's the age of retirement. Martin could continue playing if his body holds up, yet it's understandable if he decides to move on.

There's no replacing a player of Martin's caliber. Even still, Jones and the front office have major tasks in front of them to fill the many holes on this roster.

Dallas has endured a miserable season with no true light at the end of the tunnel. Dak Prescott's contract appears to be an albatross and it's likely the Cowboys will employ a new head coach in the 2025 season.

Unfortunately, the future iteration of this roster looks like it'll have to find someone to fill Martin's outsized shoes.
