Cowboys Break Some Bad News on Injured Star Ahead of Week 14
The Dallas Cowboys are 5-7 on the campaign after they notched a 27-20 win over the New York Giants on Thanksgiving Day. This was their second straight win, giving them hope for a playoff push.
Over the past two weeks, Dallas has elevated their play and has a contest against the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday Night Football in Week 14.
Following the win over the Giants, owner Jerry Jones said it was "more than likely" that the Cowboys would have DeMarcus Lawrence back on the field against Cincinnati. While that was exciting for Dallas fans to hear, Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones gave a different outlook on Monday.
Cowboys News: DeMarcus Lawrence Unlikely to Play in Week 14
Stephen was a guest on 105.3 The Fan on Monday and said it would "probably be a long shot" for Lawrence to suit up on Monday. He added, "I certainly expect to see him sooner than later."
Stephen added it's not out of the equation that Lawrence plays but it's not trending that way. The 32-year-old has been sidelined since Week 4 against the New York Giants when he suffered a Lisfranc injury to his right foot. He was placed on IR and hasn't played since.
Getting Lawrence back in the fold will be huge for the Cowboys. In 141 career games with Dallas, the Boise State product has compiled 450 total tackles, 61.5 sacks, and 21 forced fumbles.
The Cowboys need everything to go their way if they want to sneak into the postseason and getting Lawrence back on the field will be a key in that. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like that will be happening in Week 14.
