Cowboys' CeeDee Lamb is already working to avoid another 2025 gaffe

CeeDee Lamb had one of the worst starts to a season in his career in 2025. The star wideout dropped four passes against the Philadelphia Eagles in primetime for the world to see. One of those came on a key 4th-and-3 that essentially ended the game, 24-20.

Lamb put his head in his hands in disgust at the time. It wasn’t just that the Dallas Cowboys were going to start 0-1 for the first time since 2022. CeeDee knew that his drops were a key factor in their demise.

But this season, Lamb is already proving he has the work ethic to correct anything that isn’t right with him. This morning, Nick Eatman of the official Cowboys' website saw Lamb at the Cowboys’ training field as early as 7:30 AM, getting work in on the jugs machine.

It’s great to see Lamb putting in the extra work to get better. That type of stuff gets fans and coaches fired up. Seeing a guy who makes so much and could definitely rest on his laurels identify a problem and try to fix it is what elite players do.

Over the rest of the 2025 season, Lamb only dropped four more passes. The eight total were still tied for the third most in the NFL. Furthermore, he dropped three of those four in another game against the Eagles later in the campaign, including a would-be touchdown. At the time, Lamb was not happy, and that same attitude is what's leading him to get to work early in the morning before everybody else.

It’ll be interesting to see how the extra catch sessions help Lamb once the season starts. Last year, he missed three games due to an ankle injury. He and George Pickens were also benched to start a game against the Las Vegas Raiders after violating team curfew the night before. Light stuff that deserved a possession off, but Lamb's head has always usually been in the right place.

Even with drops and injuries haunting him, Lamb still hit 1,077 receiving yards on 75 catches. In 2023, he led the NFL with 135 catches and was named to the first-team All-Pro. So, Cowboys fans know he has the talent to vacuum in everything that comes his way. 

After the season, Lamb was candid about his mistakes and knew right away that he had to be better.

Lamb needs to get off to a hot start in 2026. The injury and drops left a bad taste in fans' mouths. Everyone is understandably hyped about Pickens, but let’s not forget that CeeDee is one of the best receivers in the game when right.
