After a disastrous 2025 season on defense, the Dallas Cowboys are back on the search for a new defensive coordinator. Matt Eberflus proved that he wasn’t the right option to lead this unit for a second season, meaning that America's Team will feature a different DC for the fourth consecutive year.

Thus far, the Cowboys have already interviewed multiple candidates for their DC vacancy, which includes former Arizona Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon, who spent two years with the Philadelphia Eagles as their defensive coordinator (2021-2022).

Nonetheless, the Cowboys are still doing their diligence on potential candidates and now have their eyes on a coach from the rival Philadelphia Eagles. On Wednesday, NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported that Dallas is requesting permission to interview Eagles DB coach and pass-game coordinator Christian Parker.

If you’re a Cowboys fan, Parker is the perfect candidate to get excited for, as he’s viewed as one of the upcoming coaches in the NFL and has been learning from Eagles DC Vic Fangio, who is considered to be among the league's best at what he does.

Christian Parker Interview Worth Rolling Out the Cowboys' Red Carpet

In his two years with the Eagles, Parker has played an integral role in the development of young cornerbacks Cooper DeJean and Quinyon Mitchell, who were both named All-Pro first team, which is nothing short of impressive. Along with DeJean and Mitchell, Parker has had a chance to work with a couple of other All-Pro cornerbacks in Jaire Alexander (Green Bay) and Patrick Surtain II (Denver Broncos).

Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer should be looking to pick Parker’s mind to see what he could do for this beleaguered defense, but also for their cornerbacks Shavon Revel, Caelan Carson, and DaRon Bland.

Dallas had the worst pass defense in the NFL this season, allowing 251.5 yards per game. The Cowboys also gave up the second-most passing touchdowns (35) and recorded a measly six interceptions (29th in the NFL). If Parker or another defensive coordinator makes this unit somewhat competent in 2026, and the offense picks up where it left off, there’s no reason why Dallas can’t be a contender in the NFC East.

Now, finding the right defensive coordinator is the first step in fixing the defense. After that, the next step for the Cowboys is getting the right player for whatever scheme the next coordinator wants to run.

There’s still a long way to go in the hiring process, but Cowboys fans should keep an eye out for Parker to see if he interviews for the position, as he offers a ton of upside for multiple years.
