The Dallas Cowboys are wrapping up their first losing season in four years with a Week 18 matchup against the Washington Commanders. As one of the most disappointing teams in the NFL this season, the Cowboys can't wait for this season from hell to end.

Cowboys fans are understandably more interested in what happens after Sunday than the game itself. Who the next head coach will be is the biggest question on everyone's mind. With Mike McCarthy's contract set to expire on January 14, will Jerry Jones & Co. opt to bring him back or will they go in a different direction?

NFL insiders Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport provided an update on the coaching situation in Dallas. Their report suggests that the shakeup among the coaching staff may be more substantial than anticipated.

Not only is McCarthy's contract expiring in less than two weeks, but his entire staff, including OC Brian Schottenheimer, DC Mike Zimmer, and STC John Fassel are reportedly also on expiring deals.

"There have been no substantive talks yet about an extension for McCarthy in Dallas, sources say... Essentially McCarthy's entire coaching staff -- including coordinators Brian Schottenheimer, Mike Zimmer and John Fassel -- also have expiring contracts."

This means that the Cowboys will have plenty of difficult decisions to make on the coaching front this offseason. Jerry Jones and management have been praising McCarthy for keeping this team together amid injuries and playing competitive football. Does this mean that there is a possibility McCarthy stays for another season, but we see changes in his coordinators?

Considering how the defensive unit took a nosedive, replacing Zimmer is certainly a possibility. Schottenheimer was the offensive coordinator for the best offense in the NFL last season, so he probably doesn't deserve to be fired after a season where Dak Prescott missed half the games.

Yet, as Clint Eastwood in Unforgiven says, "Deserve's got nothing to do with it", especially when you are dealing with Jerry Jones.
