The Dallas Cowboys have been making a ton of additions to their coaching staff this week. It started with the press conference introducing Brian Schottenheimer on Monday and other moves have trickled in.

They named Nick Sorensen as their special teams coordinator, Matt Eberflus as the defensive coordinator, and Aaron Whitecotton as the defensive line coach.

As Schottenheimer looks to round out his coaching staff, Dallas is considering adding New Orleans Saints RBs coach Derrick Foster to their staff for the same role. Per Todd Archer, the Cowboys have already interviewed him.

Cowboys News: Derrick Foster is Interviewing for Dallas RB Coach

Foster was the Los Angeles Chargers RB coach from 2021-2023. He then joined the New Orleans Saints in 2024 in the same role.

In his lone season with the Saints, running back Alvin Kamara racked up a career-high 950 rushing yards with six rushing touchdowns. Foster also helped Austin Ekeler dominate with the Los Angeles Chargers from 2021-2022, where he logged 900-plus rushing yards in consecutive seasons.

Those two seasons were the best of Ekeler's career, showcasing Foster puts his players in the best position to succeed.

The Cowboys' rushing attack needs a jolt of energy in 2025. This past season, Dallas was 27th in the NFL in rushing offense (100.3) with a league-low six touchdowns.

Rico Dowdle is slated to hit free agency, finishing with his first 1,000-yard campaign. Despite putting up the best season of his career, it took the Cowboys until November to make Dowdle a mainstay in the offensive game plan.

The Cowboys' offense needs more production next season, especially on the ground. The potential addition of Foster would be a solid addition to a coaching staff that is brand new.
