The pieces are in place for the Cowboys to field a deep, flexible set of cornerbacks this season. If the group develops, it has the talent to emerge as the NFL's best. Alongside a new coaching hire, things could be looking up for a once-struggling unit.
One of the most under-the-radar signings of the offseason was when Dallas picked up Cobie Durant on a one-year deal. The former Los Angeles Ram cost just $5.5 million and has had big moments in the past. Last season, he had three interceptions and even a pick-six.
Dallas is also going to get DaRon Bland back. The standout corner had his 2025 season cut short after having surgery on his foot back in January. It’s the second time he’s had surgery on the foot in his career. But when he’s healthy, he’s one of the most lockdown players at his position. It feels like a blur, but don't forget that in 2023 he had nine interceptions and returned five for touchdowns.
Christian Parker could unlock the Cowboys’ corners in 2026
Perhaps the biggest addition to the Cowboys’ secondary this offseason was Christian Parker, who is being brought in from the Philadelphia Eagles as the new defensive coordinator. He’s a former defensive backs coach and helped develop players like Cooper DeJean and Quinyon Mitchell into All-Pro players. It’s a massive step up from the previous defensive coaching regime under Matt Eberflus.
Parker is also now the youngest DC in franchise history at 34. Sean Leahy of Yahoo Sports says that same resume is why this was a killer win for the Cowboys' secondary in 2026.
“Parker's influence on the Eagles was clear as the team allowed an NFL-best 174.2 passing yards per game in 2024 and the development of Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean helped improve the secondary. Both players earned first-team All-Pro status and Pro Bowl invites this past season.”
If Parker can get another productive season out of Durant and a bounce-back season out of Bland, things could be looking up for the cornerbacks. With that in mind, it’s not hard to imagine the Cowboys having a much better secondary in 2026.
Hopefully, Dallas can keep things rolling on offense while revamping the defense. If so, this could be a scary team. There’s top-to-bottom talent, versatility, and experience throughout. They could make things tough on opposing defenses and offenses, which would be refreshing after a frustrating 2025.
We also can’t forget about Shavon Revel, who struggled as a rookie but could leap in year two. He's already showing that his injury shouldn't be a concern any longer, giving fans extreme hope. There are even guys to keep an eye on, like rookie Devin Moore out of Florida.
It's still a project, but on paper, this CB depth chart is already a W.
