Cowboys Dealt Another Blow After Standout Defender Exits Early With Serious Injury
By Cem Yolbulan
The Dallas Cowboys' season from hell continues. Amidst the disappointing campaign that has them out of playoff contention early, the Cowboys have also been dealing with serious injuries all year. During Monday Night Football showdown against the Cincinnati Bengals, the Cowboys just lost another standout performer.
Talented linebacker DeMarvion Overshown suffered a knee injury in the fourth quarter and had to be helped off the field. He was ruled out immediately, per The Athletic's Jon Machota, and headed straight to the X-ray room.
Cowboys News: DeMarvion Overshown Exits Game Early With Knee Injury
On a defensive unit that has been dealing with injuries all season, Overshown has been one constant. After missing all of last season with a torn ACL, the former third-round pick has made his NFL debut with the Cowboys this season and performed admirably.
The Cowboys lost Sam Williams and DeMarcus Lawrence for the season. Micah Parsons missed games for the first time in his career. On a depleted defense in desperate need of playmaking, Overshown provided that. In 12 games, he had five sacks, 84 tackles, eight tackles for loss, and 5 QB hits.
Overshown's injury certainly didn't look good on the field, but we will find out more about it after further testing. With only four weeks left before the end of the season and the Cowboys not having much to play for, the 24-year-old may not return this season. Even if he doesn't, he will remain one of the few bright spots for Dallas in the miserable 2024 season.
