The Dallas Cowboys officially opened up training camp on July 21. Despite missing the playoffs, Dallas made some significant additions via trade and the NFL draft.
The Cowboys will have CB Trevon Diggs, LB DeMarvion Overshown, and CB Josh Butler begin camp on the physically unable to perform list, while rookie CB Shavon Revel will open on the non-football injury list according to ESPN's Todd Archer.
As they work back from knee injuries, CB Trevon Diggs, LB DeMarvion Overshown and CB Josh Butler will open camp on the physically unable to perform list, while rookie CB Shavon Revel will open on the non-football injury list, per sources. All expected with the rehabs they are in.

Cowboys CB Shavon Revel Will Sidelined to Begin Camp
Revel is still rehabbing his way back from a torn ACL that he suffered in practice last September when he was at East Carolina. The Cowboys snagged him with the 76th overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft but knew it was going to take time before he stepped on the field.
Following the surgery in February, his surgeon, Dr. Daniel Cooper, wrote a letter to NFL teams confirming that Revel was on track to be fully cleared by the summer. The Cowboys likely felt comfortable with where he was at during the draft process, especially since Dr. Cooper is the head team doctor.
The next couple of weeks will be big in terms of Revel's progress. The Cowboys have dealt with multiple injuries to the secondary. Diggs underwent left knee surgery to fix a chondral tissue graft issue. Meanwhile, last summer, DaRon Bland suffered a stress fracture and had to undergo surgery, forcing him to miss the first seven games of the 2024 season.
When healthy, this secondary could be dangerous, and Revel could play a huge role in that. In his collegiate career at East Carolina, Revel was targeted 65 times, allowing just 28 catches for a 43.1 percent completion rate from opposing quarterbacks.
In addition, over 24 games, Revel had 15 pass deflections, 70 total tackles, and three interceptions. These numbers are very appealing and illustrate the potential he has.
Dallas would love to see him step on the practice field soon enough, as he could play a pivotal role as a rookie.
